Microsoft has released Cumulative Update #8 for SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2.
I am a passionate technologist with industry experience dating back to Classic ASP and SQL Server 6.5. I am a long-time Microsoft MVP, write at Simple Talk, SQLPerformance, and MSSQLTips, and have had the honor of speaking at more conferences than I can remember. In non-tech life, I am a husband, a father of two, a huge hockey and football fan, and my pronouns are he/him.
Chris, essentially, the only change will be that the up-front memory grant will be larger when the trace flag is enabled. They've updated the wording in the KB slightly, and I've asked them to add more detail, but so far nothing…
So does anybody understand how KB3088480 for data spills in large sorts will work? What is trace flag 7470 going to do?
